The film tells the story of Russia's so-called time. The Troubles in the early seventeenth century, and specifically about the episode Russian Polish war 1609 - 1618, concerning the seizure of Moscow by the Poles in 1610 and then fight for their expulsion - which took place in 1612. Against the Polish presence in the Kremlin and the Moscow State imposition of the Tsars (Dmitri Samozwaniec I and II - the rightful ruler of Vasyl Szujski was in captivity in Poland, where he died soon after) occurred for the first time in all the Russian states - both nobles led by Prince Pozharskii, as well as people led by the merchant Kuzma Minin. Somewhat contrary to historical truth, which was more complicated, the film presents the Poles as a dangerous and ruthless invaders. Day of the Polish crew surrender Kremlin 4 November (1612) is today a national holiday in Russia, and on Moscow's Red Square stands a statue of Minin and Pozharskii. Co-producer is closely associated with the Kremlin, the famous director Nikita Mikhalkov.
